Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo; President: Atsushi Katsuki) is a member of the United Nations Global Compact.*2We Mean Business*3SBT (Science Based Targets) Initiative※Foursigned the “Business Ambition for 1.5°C,” which calls for the creation of a target to limit the increase in global temperature to 1.5°C led by Global Warming. As a result, we have participated in the “Race to Zero” initiative promoted by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat.
“Business Ambition for 1.5℃” is a campaign to urgently call on companies to set reduction targets based on scientific evidence, with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050. , More than 500 companies (as of May 2021), mainly global companies, have expressed their support.
In addition, “Race to Zero” will accelerate the decarbonization trend toward the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) to be held in Glasgow, UK in November 2021. It is an effort to call for a policy increase in volatility mitigation. 1,101 companies, 45 major institutional investors, 549 universities, 452 cities, and 22 regional municipalities are participating in “Race to Zero.” (As of December 2020)
In order to achieve the medium- to long-term goal of “Asahi Carbon Zero,” which aims to reduce CO2 emissions to zero by 2050, the Asahi Group is actively using renewable energy at its domestic and overseas manufacturing bases, reviewing manufacturing processes, and improving logistics efficiency. The entire group is working to reduce temperature, and has already been certified as a 1.5°C target by the SBT initiative.

As a company that operates while enjoying the blessings of nature, we aim to pass on the blessings of nature to the next generation by proactively addressing various environmental issues. Under the goal of “Asahi Carbon Zero”, we will promote initiatives against climate change and aim to achieve both social and business sustainability.
The Asahi Group’s medium- to long-term CO2 emissions reduction target, aiming for zero CO2 emissions in Scope 1, 2 and Scope 3 by 2050. The 2030 target is a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions (compared to 2019) and a 30% reduction in Scope 3 CO2 emissions (compared to 2015).
At the World Economic Forum held on January 31, 1999, then-UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan advocated that each company, within its sphere of influence, It calls for adherence to and implementation of 10 principles in four areas: labor standards, the environment, and anti-corruption. Each company/organization participates voluntarily, and as of January 2021, 385 companies/organizations are participating in the Japanese network. More than 16,000 companies and organizations worldwide participate.
