Haneda Future Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Head office: Ota-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO Hiroshi Onishi, hereinafter referred to as Future Research Institute) will hold a clothes collection and exchange event for 30 days from June 1st to June 30th. In order to operate “HANEDA Fashion Swap vol.2” and to solicit cooperation in upcycling the “giant shogi board” using collected clothing, we launched a cloud at READY FOR with the support of the Japan Shogi Association. Start funding.
This project was born from the thought of a fashion-loving employee who saw clothes discarded at a garbage collection site during the season of changing clothes. A survey of discarded clothes revealed that about 500,000 tons of clothes are incinerated each year from household waste. Haneda Airport, where many people come and go, started the clothes upcycling initiative “HANEDA Fashion Swap” in October last year.
This time, in order to solve the problem of clothes discarded from Haneda Airport, we aim to draw a circle of sustainable resource circulation together with our customers. We are asking for your support for the production and planning of the “Giant Shogi Board” inspired by the chess board.
Collected clothes in “HANEDA Fashion Swap” vol.2 are sorted, and unreusable clothes are recycled into panels made from clothes called “PANECO ® ”, which is made by appropriate recycling treatment by Work Studio Co., Ltd. We will process the panel and upcycle it into a huge shogi board and shogi pieces of about 3m x 3m. We plan to hold an unveiling party for the completed giant shogi board at the time of the “HANEDA Fashion Swap” vol.3.
