  • I tried a Ford and Chevrolet electric SUV.
  • The Ford Mustang Mach E is more agile but more expensive, and the Chevrolet Bolt EUV is cheaper and more compact.
  • Both are wonderful zero emission cars with various features.

Fans of Ford and Chevrolet are arguing about something else.

The two Detroit brands are currently competing for the sale of electric SUVs. Ford recently resumed sales of the Mustang His Mach E, which was sold in late 2020, and Chevrolet recently suspended sales of the Bolt EUV, which had been suspended for a long time due to battery problems.

The two cars have nothing in common. One is a sporty type that is an electrified classic muscle car. The other is a compact SUV for commuting. In terms of price, the price of the 2022 Bolt EUV is relatively modest from $ 34,495 (about 4.7 million yen), but Ford’s Mustang Mach E is 10,000 dollars (about 1.36 million yen) even with the base select model. ) Is also high (Addition: The 2023 Mustang EUV will be significantly reduced to $ 28,195 (about 3.84 million yen). It can be ordered now, and production will start after the summer of 2022).

However, there are not many SUV-type electric vehicles (EVs), so some may consider them as candidates for the next zero-emission vehicle.

Therefore, we tested these two EVs for families and compared them item by item.

Ford’s Mustang Mach E is faster, more agile and gives you the pleasure of driving in every way than Bolt EUV. After all, it’s a Mustang. The Mach E is also available in an all-wheel drive version with shorter cruising range but better performance.

On the other hand, bolt EUV is only front-wheel drive. However, the driving is smooth and you can start running relatively quickly even after waiting for a traffic light.

All grades of Volt EUV have a range rating of 247 miles (397.5km) by the EPA (US Environmental Protection Agency), which is the same as the cheapest model of the Mach E. The all-wheel drive Mach E Select drops to 224 miles (360km).

But the $ 53,500 Mach E California Route 1 can travel up to 314 miles (505km), close to the top in its class.

Volt EUV can be charged at 55kW with a DC quick charger, but this is not a number that can compete with competitors such as Mach E. According to Chevrolet, a 30-minute charge can extend mileage by 95 miles (153km).
