Known as the “Casa de Roca,” this all-white house can easily be overlooked.

“This house is often called the Flintstone House, but while those houses are usually made out of rock, this one looks like a cloud covered in something like foam,” he said. Maya Hiersoux, a real estate broker, told Insider. Heersoo is in charge of the property with her colleague Darlene Streit of Sotheby’s International Realty’s Santa Fe branch.

Perched on 5.2 acres of land on a hilltop, Casa de Roca was built in 1989 by the late Nora Pearson, who ran a jewelry store in Santa Fe called GoldenEye, according to the listing. It was built by Nora Pierson.

The current owner purchased the home in November 2017.

“We see the originality of this home as a positive factor. We don’t buy conventional homes because they feel boring and soulless,” the owner said. speaking.

If it weren’t for the windows, many people wouldn’t even realize there was a house here.

The outside of the house is covered with something like foam, and from a distance it looks like a cloud.

“This place seems like the perfect hideaway,” Heersoo said.

Location was the deciding factor in the current owner’s purchase of the house.

“Privacy, nature, a sky full of stars…we fell in love at first sight when we saw this home,” the owner said.

“It’s right near the city of Santa Fe.”

Santa Fe homes average $1.2 million, according to data from Realtor.com. There are currently 15 single-family homes for sale in the area, with prices ranging from $590,000 to $1.99 million. The Casa de Roca, which sells for $899,000, is mid-range in this price range.

The outside of the house is rugged and uneven, but the inside is completely different. The 2,414-square-foot home is bright, spacious, and airy.

Hiersoo said it felt “mystical” when he first entered the house.

“I expected it to be dark and cave-like, but it was the opposite.”

The arched doorway and high ceiling create a sense of depth, and the windows let in plenty of sunlight.

The owner said, “This house was built by a very well known local jeweler who said building it was like ‘carving a ring from the inside out’. I think it’s a perfect description of the finish of this beautiful interior.”

There are some parts that have been touched up for the upgrade, but it blends in well with the original design.

“When our client bought this home, we did a fair amount of maintenance,” Hiersoo said.

The three fireplaces have been replaced by the current owners to make the home more livable, Heersoo said.

“But you can’t tell by looking at the fireplace. We were very careful not to change the original character of the house.”

Hiersoo says the house is perfect for those who are willing to embrace the unique and the outside-the-box.

The ideal buyer is someone who wants to “preserve the integrity of the vision of the original owner and designer.”

Between the floors are two mezzanine-like spaces that can also be used as places to exercise or play musical instruments.

“It’s very quiet here. When the lights of the Galisteo Basin change, the atmosphere changes, it’s a pleasure to look at, and it’s a mesmerizing beauty,” Heelsou said.

All rooms and terraces have views of the surrounding terrain and sky.

“The skies are constantly changing in northern New Mexico, so you’ll never see the same view twice,” Heersoo added.

Outside, you’ll find a newly built two-car garage. It was made by the current owner.

Compared to the main house, Hielsoo said the garage looks like a normal building.

“Everyone loves Casa de Roca. It’s a unique building and its originality is second to none,” the owner said.

Mr. Hielsu agrees.

“I’ve never sold a home that’s as unique as this one. As far as I know, there’s no other like it.”
