This time, “NIPPON FOOD SHIFT FES. Okinawa” will be held in collaboration with D&Department Co., Ltd., which is disseminating the individuality of each region to the whole country through shops and magazine publications. Through the perspectives of urban youths who have experienced the production sites of Okinawa, we will learn about people who are based in Okinawa Prefecture and connect with the local community while thinking about, exploring, and implementing their own way of agriculture, food processing, and distribution. D&DEPARTMENT is a store-style activity group with the theme of long-life design, and conducts activities to review and widely introduce “long-lived, local design” through product sales, restaurants, publications, tourism, etc.
This project will focus on food producers based in Okinawa who will create the future of Japan while connecting with the land, seasons, and local communities. 13 students visited food production sites, experienced them, interviewed them, and wrote articles on them, distributing a “special edition tabloid” and developing a “market” where D&DEPARTMENT is paying attention to products made in Okinawa Prefecture on a limited basis.
